About Us

What to expect

Our offices are located in the heart of charming Sierra Madre. Ample street parking is available or there is a public lot adjacent to the building along the alleyway behind the building off of Auburn Avenue (please avoid the numbered spaces, as these are reserved). Upon arrival, you can relax in the downstairs waiting room until your therapist greets you at the start of your session.

Therapy sessions are weekly and are scheduled in advance. Standard sessions are 50-minutes in length. Therapy can be conducted in office or via teletherapy within California.

Therapy is a process that is unique to each client. Some presenting issues can be worked on very effectively in a fairly short period of time. Other challenges may take much longer. It can be difficult to predict exactly how long therapy will last and this is best discussed in your first session. You and your therapist will put together a treatment plan and goals that you will be working toward.

Our approach

Our goal as therapists is to help people navigate through difficulties in their life and relationships while providing a safe place to heal, explore, develop insight, practice healthy coping tools, integrate changes, and take responsibility for themselves. The style of the therapists at Attachment Based Tx is client-centered, attachment focused, humanistic, collaborative, honest, challenging, direct and empathetic. We use a combination of Psychodynamic, Emotion Focused, and Cognitive-Behavioral interventions with most clients. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is used to treat trauma along with a variety of other presenting complaints.

Making an appointment

After reviewing the “Therapists” page, contact a therapist via the listed phone number or email. You can expect to hear back from the therapist within 24 hours, except on weekends. During the initial call, the therapist will gather some basic information from you, including what brings you to therapy, discuss session fee and appointment availability, as well as answer any questions or concerns you may have. Should you choose to proceed, an initial appointment will be scheduled. Prior to the appointment, you will be given access to the online client portal where you can complete required documentation. If you have any questions during this process, please reach out to your therapist.

Fees and Insurance

Rates are $160 - $240 per session. Limited sliding scale rates may be available. Cash, check, or credit card are accepted.

Limited insurance slots are available through Kaiser or Cigna. Partial out-of-network coverage may be available, depending on your insurance provider. Your provider can give details about your out-of-network coverage for therapeutic services. If coverage is available, we can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. When contacting your insurance provider, some questions to ask include:

  • Does my health care coverage include out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • What does that benefit cover? A percentage of the session fee? Is there a cap on the amount of session fee covered?

  • What is my annual deductible? Have I met the deductible yet?

  • Are there any limits to the number of therapy sessions covered per year? If so, how many?

Sometimes we’re tested… to discover our strengths.
